It’s been a dramatic couple of weeks, and there has been lots of activity in the hives. I believe both hives have requeened themselves. During each inspection, I check to see if we have a queen. I look for eggs, larvae, and capped brood, as well as honey. Do you see eggs in the cells? Do you see larva? There are larvae at different stages of development, some smaller or younger than others. Then suddenly, this past week when I went to inspect, there was no larvae and no capped brood. So I panicked and assumed that all this time I thought there were eggs, and there wasn’t any. And that’s pretty much what happened. I went in last week and there were a couple of queen cells. So it looks like both hives have new queens.
